Future of navigation is here

Maths, GPS and some out of the box thinking. Origins of this novel app.

What3words is an unique game changer in the field of navigation. The entire earth is divided into 3×3 metre plots and each of these squares have been given an address. The address (as you might have guessed) is a combination of three words. The ease at which you can direct someone to a place or locate lost members of a hiking group is to be experienced.

I came across this app today and will try to use it more in the coming months. Download it and give it a go. The next time you want to give directions try it.

It is being used by authorities for rescue operations and I can see why. You can reach a 3x3m plot in a dense forest with precision.

Let me know what you think of it.
