Is Vertical Farming Really the Future of Agriculture?

Writer's picture: Murali ThondebhaviMurali Thondebhavi

With the top soil across the planet being plundered in the name of development (Amravati, capital of the state of Andhra in India being built on rich fertile land) or ruined with excessive fertilizer usage, we are left with very little choice to grow food.

Especially keeping in mind that the 7 billion will turn to a whopping 10 billion hungry stomachs to feed in the coming decades.

This interesting piece by Steve Holt explores one of the alternatives – Vertical farming.

Only time will tell if this is a fair option.
