Journalling is a great tool for self improvement. I started my journalling journey three years ago. There are five things I write a line about in the journal every evening; a) what happened today, b) the most important thing that happened, c) what I am grateful for, d) sleep, meditation and exercise and e) what I learnt today. I picked these prompts from James Clear (Atomic Habits). It has served as a great tool to enhance my sense of gratitude (in turn happiness?) and ensure that I learn something new everyday.
In this article by Calvin Rosser (do check out his blog posts) there are multiple prompts for starting your journey in journalling. Its not a hard habit. Try it.
