As we near the third decade of this century the world is seeing unprecedented rise in the number of non-communicable diseases (diabetes, hypertension, etc..).

A part of the blame is on the level of physical activity. However, we have decided to bring all the foods of the world to our dinner table (especially in a processed format) and this forms the other piece of the jigsaw.

This thought provoking piece (a well written one) from The Guardian looks at these issues and makes you think twice before you pop the next piece of non-local food into your gut.
