Relationships - Make them work!

“The meeting of two personalities is like the contact of two chemical substances: if there is any reaction, both are transformed.”

― Carl Gustav Jung

So, you know how fairy tales always wrap up with a "Happily Ever After"? Well, real life doesn't quite work like that always. Happiness is something you gotta work for, like good health or peace of mind. I get that relationships can be a rocky road for some of us. It's not always sunshine and rainbows, right?

Here are some articles and podcasts I have come across in the last few years that might give you a hand in building and keeping those relationships healthy.

  • Esther Perel is one of the top experts on this topic. There are a lot of blog posts and podcasts featuring her insights. Start with this podcast notes and you are welcome to listen to more couples gyan from her on YouTube.

  • Polina in her blog "The Profile" has crowdsourced tips for healthy relationships and has provided 20 actionable points. Read it here.

  • This article is all about the relationship with "ME" before the "WE". A good one on self-care in a healthy relationship.

  • Poet David Whyte in his book "Three Marriages..." explores the two marriages we have in our life apart from the one with our romantic partner. One with our inner voice and the other one with our vocation (both equally important). Read this excellent summary of his book here. If you like poetry, read the book for lines like this...“What we love in other human beings is the hoped-for satisfaction of our desire, we do not love them for their desire. If what we loved in them was their desire, then we should love them as our self.”
